Coupon Codes & Colors in Enlightened Shopping

Getting coupons to use at the store is how you’ll save. So here is some help understanding the simple SavingsAngel system for coupons.

If you get stuck, don’t hesitate to ask us for help at the HelpDesk. You can even request a personal phone call by filling out this form: www.savingsangel.com/mentor. We are committed to your success!

Coupon Codes:

The abbreviation stands for the coupon company. The date is the day the coupon came in the newspaper insert.

So, for example:

The notation (SS 7/13) would mean the coupon is from the SmartSource insert from July 13.

Most Common Coupon Sources:

SS = SmartSource           RP = Red Plum             P&G = Proctor and Gamble           GM = General Mills

All You = All You Magazine (available exclusively at Walmart or by subscription; All You coupons have the date that is on the front of the magazine, and the page number where the coupon is found.)

What about Extra Words?

If a company issues more than one coupon insert on the same date, SavingsAngel.com differentiates by noting what is on the front page of the insert. You'll see words like "Sears" or "Unilever".

Coupon Colors:

Black colored coupons are manufacturer’s coupons from the newspaper inserts or All You magazine.

Blue colored coupons are printable Internet coupons. Simply click the link we provide, and it will take you to where you can print these manufacturer’s coupons.

Green colored coupons are what we call stackable coupons. They are usually store coupons that you can either print or get from the store’s ad. The magical part is that you can also use a manufacturer coupon, along with a store coupon, on the same item. What matters is who backs up the coupon. So you can use a green with a blue coupon or a green with a black coupon!

Green coupons are not always a coupon. Sometimes they are a special incentive that the store is offering. An example would be: “Purchase 4 boxes of cereal, get a free gallon of milk”.  Or “receive a certain amount back” (in the form of a special coupon to use later – see our article on Catalinas).

Red colored coupons are going to expire very soon. So if you want to use one, hurry!
